Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507 & F53 Pipes Overview
Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507 & F53 Pipes carry the most demanding chloride and sour-service process streams in oil & gas, offshore and desalination piping. Its 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum composition with controlled nitrogen gives a PREN of 40–43, making it a preferred upgrade from Alloy 2205 wherever standard duplex pipe risks localized attack.

Corrosion Resistance of Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507
- With a PREN of 40–43, Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507 & F53 Pipes significantly outperform standard duplex 2205 and austenitic 316L in aggressive media.
- Pitting resistance: excellent resistance to chloride-induced pitting, with a critical pitting temperature above 50°C.
- Crevice resistance: strong performance at flanged and threaded pipe joints.
- Chloride SCC resistance: very high resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking in hot, saline environments.
Heat Resistance of Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507
Alloy 2507 & F53 pipes are rated for continuous service up to roughly 316°C (600°F); extended exposure above this can reduce toughness and corrosion resistance. Minimum design temperature without impact testing is typically -29°C (-20°F). Confirm exact limits against the applicable design code and application before specifying.
Key Properties of Super Duplex Steel Alloy 2507 & F53 Pipes
Beyond corrosion and heat performance, Alloy 2507 pipes offer these additional properties.
- Very high mechanical strength, roughly 45% above standard 2205
- Good weldability using 2507/P100 matching filler metal
- Resists carbide-related intergranular corrosion
- Good toughness maintained into cold service temperatures
